A few weeks ago I was doing a collaboration with my friends on Instagram and we were cooking recipes from Andhra Pradesh, this is a one more dish I made for this series. Kairi Murgh, kairi means sour green mango and murgh is chicken. This recipe is quite spicy and tangy as the most dishes from Andhra Pradesh.
This dish goes really well with just plain rice, roti or even bhakri (sorghum rotis) with a bowl of dal (lentils) or a raita (yoghurt) relish as a side. Do give it a try!
Ingredients:
Serves 6
Directions:
Pressure cook the mango and then make a paste, removing the stone. Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan and add the chicken pieces, stir fry for about 10 minutes till they are nicely brown and take them out of the oil. Keep it aside.
In the same pan with the oil add ghee, add in the onions. Sauté till the onions are golden brown, add in the green chillies and ginger, garlic paste. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes.
Add in the spice powders with 1 tbsp of water, mix it well. Add in the browned chicken and continue to cook till the chicken is almost done.
In last 5 minutes, add in the cooked mango puree. Cook till the chicken is tender.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot!
